In Jammu and Kashmir, three Jaish-e-Mohamad (JeM) terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the upper reaches of Nagbaeran forests in Awantipora area of Pulwama district this morning.
Police said, a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation based on intelligence input about the presence of terrorists in the area.
As the security forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon them, triggering a gunfight, which resulted in the killing of three terrorists.
One of the terrorists neutralised in the operation has been identified as Wakeel Shah, who was responsible for the killing of Rakesh Pandita, a BJP leader and Municipal Councilor of Tral in Pulwama district on 2nd of June this year.
The identification of the other two terrorists is being ascertained.
