In Himachal Pradesh, subsidy on edible oil has been enhanced from 10 to 30 rupees per litre for BPL families and from five to 10 rupees per litre for APL families for the next four months.
This decision of the State Government would benefit over 18.71 lakh card holders of the state.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that his government is committed to safeguard the interests of the people of the state, especially providing relief to the weaker sections of the society by providing them reasonable subsidy on essential commodities.
It may be recalled that the country has witnessed a sharp increase in prices of edible oils during last two to three months due to import related issues.
The State Government was providing about 32 lakh litres edible oil through the Public Distribution System to the consumers of the state.
