Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launches 5th edition of Defence India Startup Challenge

Defence minister Rajnath Singh today launched fifth edition of Defence India Startup Challenge (DISC 5.0).The minister said, there is neither shortage of talents nor lack of demand for talents in the country.

The Defence minister said, the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) platform has succeeded to a large extent in bridging the gap. iDEX4fauji is also a similar initiative, which gives an opportunity to the service personnel to showcase their talent in these fields.

The minister expressed hope that this will help to achieve the goal of self-reliance. Mr Singh said five hundred crore rupees will be spent in innovation to promote three hundred startups in next five years.

Mr Singh said, problems being faced by the Services, Defence public sector undertakings and Ordnance Factory Boards are identified, and they are brought in front of entrepreneurs, MSMEs, start-ups and innovators in the form of DISC to find their solutions.
