Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister RK Singh has said that India has established a new identity in the power sector and made new records in access and energy transition.
He said, the Government has taken several steps to modernise and strengthen the sector by improving power distribution networks and installing smart grid and smart metering.
In an exclusive interview to All India Radio News, Mr. Singh said, the country reached from power deficit stage to power surplus stage after this government came to power.
He said, availability of power in rural and urban areas have improved significantly and every village and home has been connected with electricity.
The Power Minister said, India is reducing its carbon footprint at an unparalleled pace.
He said, the country has pledged that 40 per cent of installed electricity capacity will come from non fossil fuel by 2030 and so far 38.5 per cent of power generation capacity has been transitioned to non fossil fuel.
He said, his Ministries and Departments will celebrate the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav by modernizing the power sector.
