Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 ended on the green side of the market on Tuesday. Buying interest was seen in IT and FMCG stocks. Selling pressure was witnessed in metal and PSU bank shares. Tech Mahindra was the top gainer among blue-chip stocks, surged 3.21 per cent. TCS, Bajaj Auto, Infosys, and Bajaj Finserv were among the other top Sensex gainers. While IndusInd Bank, NTPC, Bharti Airtel and Larsen were laggards.
Earlier in Asian Indices, Singapore’s Straits Times fell by 0.86 per cent Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined by 0.36 per cent and China’s Shanghai Composite fell by 2.00 per cent.
The BSE Sensex and Nifty50 increased by 0.38 and 0.31 per cent respectively. The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 55,750 level while Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange settled at the 16,614 mark. The Sensex gained 209 points to trade at 55,792 and the Nifty50 rose by 51 points to trade at 16,614.
In Nifty50 index shares, Tata Consumer Products was the biggest gainer, increased by 3.82 per cent. Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, HUL and TCS were among the other gainers.
On the other hand, JSW Steel was the worst performer in the pack, down by 2.28 per cent. Adani Ports, Tata Motors, Coal India, IndusInd Bank, UPL and ONGC were the other worst performers in the pack.
Small-cap and Mid-cap Indices
The Nifty Midcap-100 index rose 0.33 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap-100 index declined fell 0.25 per cent. In Nifty Midcap 100, Apollo Hospital gained 13.24 per cent, MRPL rose 5.52 per cent, Adani Total Gas, Edelweiss and L&T Technology also surged, while Future Retail, Yes Bank and Adani Power declined. In Nifty Smallcap-100, Aster DM Health gained 7.95 per cent. On the other hand, Kaveri Seed fell 5.01 per cent, Welspun Corp, MMTC Ltd and Ashoka Buildcon declined.
In NSE sectoral indices, 7 out of 20 sectors surged. Nifty IT was the top performer as it gained 2.57 per cent, Nifty Healthcare rose 1.72 per cent, followed by Nifty FMCG increased by 1.42 per cent. On the other hand, Nifty Metal was the worst performer, down by 2.30 per cent, followed by Nifty PSU Bank declined by 1.79 per cent.
