Sensex, Nifty trading almost flat in afternoon trade amid negative global cues

The Sensex and the Nifty were trading almost flat in afternoon trade amid negative global cues. The BSE Sensex slipped 40 points to trade at 55,622. The NSE Nifty was one point down to trade at 16,562.

In the forex market, the rupee weakened six paise to 74 rupees and 30 paise against the US dollar in the afternoon deals.
