The Embassy of India in Beijing celebrated nation’s 75th Independence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm.
The celebrations were also held at consulates in Guangzhou and Shanghai. Hundreds of Indian Community members attended the joyous event. Ambassador Vikram Misri unfurled the National Flag which was followed by singing of the National Anthem. The Ambassador read Hon. President of India’s address to the nation on the occasion.
India’ 75th Independence Day is also being celebrated as ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’-year long festivities across the country and Indian missions across the globe. As part of it, Indian embassy organized many programs including a cultural program and a webinar on 75 years journey of Independent India with a focus on future path for a ‘Self-Reliant India’. Highlight of the program was a ramp walk by kids dressed as freedom fighters and eminent personalities of modern India. ‘Poem for India’ competition was also organized which saw huge participation from the expats.
On the occasion of ‘Amrit Mahotsav’, Ambassador Misri also inaugurated a special photo exhibition with the theme ‘IndiaThroughChineseEyes’ – a marvelous set of 37 paintings by Chinese artists and calligraphers displaying the views of India using Chinese art. These paintings are of Chengdu India Centre – a private Chinese organization which held a Chinese painting compilation event called ‘India in the Eyes of Chinese’ and received vigorous cooperation and support of Bashu Art Center, whose active liaison work ensured the participation of many professional calligraphers and painters from China.
Ambassador Misri welcomed the leading Indian figures in China from the sectors of education, health, technology, culture, and economy for their valuable insights during the very special panel discussion – [email protected] – Achievements, Challenges and Path to Post-Pandemic Normalcy. Highlighting the importance to learn to live with pandemic, Mr. Misri lauded the Indian diaspora in China for adjusting their activities with the new reality.
He urged them to keep moving ahead with the modernity of thought in outlook and approach. Participants included Anil Kishora from New Development Bank, Shanghai, Prabhat Kaul, (Head – Sales & Marketing) Infosys, Shanghai, Sridhar Subramanian, Country Head, Cipla, Shanghai and Shubhankar Mukherjee, Wipro, Dalian. They shared their thoughts and experiences while outlining a path for a self-reliant India. They also shared the challenges lying ahead and the areas for improvement.
