In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, ahead of the Independence Day, a major tragedy was averted by the J&K Police, after a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module was busted and four terrorists were arrested in Jammu today.
AIR Jammu Correspondent reports that one of the arrested terrorists is a native of Uttar Pradesh. The police said that the JeM terrorists and their associates have been arrested by Jammu Police in a drive to root out presence of terrorists in Jammu. The arrested terrorists were planning the collection of arms dropped by drones for supply to active terrorists of Jaish-e- Mohammed in Kashmir valley. They were also planning to plant a vehicle based IED in Jammu before 15th August and reconnaissance of important targets in other parts of the country. The module was allegedly planning to carry out an attack on Independence Day and a motorcycle IED was to be used to carry out the attack.
According to police sources, weapons and explosives were recovered from the possession of the terrorists. Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh has confirmed the busting of the terror module and arrest of the four terrorists through his official twitter handle. Details are awaited.
