In Bihar, flood situation has worsened in 12 districts including Patna, Buxar, Munger, Bhojpur and Bhagalpur. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has asked officials to step up relief and rescue operations in affected areas. Over six hundred villages are in the grip of the flood. People of low lying areas have taken shelter on higher places. 21 teams of NDRF and SDRF are carrying out relief and rescue operations.
Medical teams have also been deployed. Standing crops spread over 70 lakh hectares have been damaged. Vehicular traffic has been disrupted in several parts of the state as flood water is flowing on roads. The state is witnessing heavy to moderate rainfall across the state. Met department has issued alert for heavy rainfall in most parts of the state in next 48 hours.
