Watch: PM Modi interacts with women SHG members in ‘Atmanirbhar Narishakti se Samvad’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an inetraction with women Self Help Group (SHG) members promoted under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) today (August 12, 2021) at 12:30 pm via video conferencing and participated in ‘Atmanirbhar Narishakti se Samvad’ event.

As part of the event, PM Modi also released a compilation of success stories of women SHG members from all across the country, along with a handbook on universalization of farm livelihoods.

Highlights of the event:

During the event, PM Modi hailed the independent women of the country and said that the country’s development is in the hands of women. He also allocated Rs 1,625 crore for the welfare of these women.

PM Modi interacted with Jayanti from Tamil Nadu, Krishi Sakhi, Champa Singh from Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh, Chandramani Das from Udham Singh Nagar, Uttrakhand and others and listened to their stories and experiences.

Urging women to start exploring digital world for starting businesses, PM also shared with them how they can also sell their products to the government through the GeM portal.

Confident that women can play a good role in building an Atmanirbhar Bharat, PM said, “With the country set to celebrate ‘Bharat ki Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, it is time we set higher goals and achieve them. Women connected with SHGs will play an important role in building the #AatmaNirbharBharat of our dreams.”

PM also talked about the dual role that self-help groups can play when it comes to raising awareness regarding single-use plastic campaign of the government. He said, “Today, the campaign to make the country free from single-use plastic is going on. Self-help groups can play a dual role in this. You have to raise awareness about single-use plastic and also work for its alternative.”

Speaking on the changing role of women in society and new vast opportunities taht are available for them today, PM Modi said, “Today, with the changing times, opportunities are also increasing. Our sisters are being connected with facilities like housing, toilet, electricity, water & gas. The Govt is working on girls’ education, health, nutrition, vaccination & other needs.”
