The war veterans from Indian Air Force were felicitated at the Air Force Technical College in Bengaluru recently as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Air Commodore KG Kuruvilla, Wing Commander J.S. Gahalawat, Wing Commander A. Raghunath and Wing Commander M.R. Shirazi had participated during 1965 and 1971 wars and won gallantry awards for their valour and courage. Air Commodore Biji Philip felicitated the war heroes.
It was a proud movement when the living legends of Indian Air Force narrated their experience on how the warriors of Indian Air Force exhibited their valour and courage in the enemy territory. Air Commodore K. G. Kuruvilla took part in the 1971 war. Narrating his experience, he said, during an air strike, he had successfully destroyed a strategic bridge, a train loaded with battle tanks and heavy machine gun of Pakistan and during the second strike his plane was shot down and he remained in Pakistan as Prisoner of War till his release in 1972. Speaking to AIR News today, Air Commodore K. G. Kuruvilla gave a message to the countrymen on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
