Watch: PM Modi addresses CII Annual Meeting 2021

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Annual Meeting 2021 today (August 11) at 4:30 PM via video conferencing. The meeting will be held for two days, Wednesday, August 11th and Thursday, August 12th.

The theme of the meeting this year was “India @ 75: Governments and Enterprises Working Together for Aatmanirbhar Bharat”. The Annual Meeting included a speech by Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Policy Coordination as a Special International Guest Speaker.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the industrial sector for standing together for the country’s need during the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic. He said, “Even during such unprecedented times of COVID-19, we are witnessing how industry and government can work hand-in-hand. Be it masks, PPE kits, ventilators, we received help from the industry whenever the country needed it.”

The country will be celebrating the 75th year of Independence. It has been preparing with much much zeal. PM Modi also called the nation to celebrate the #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav to help realize the dream of a self-reliant India. He also said that the responsibility also lies in the country’s industrial sector.

On the changing India and its youth, PM Modi during the address said how the Indians are opting for Make-in-India products. “Today the sentiment of the citizens is with products that are Made in India. It is not necessary that the company should be Indian, but today every Indian wants to own Made-in-India products,” PM Modi was quoted as saying.

He also added that ‘Ease of Doing Business’ reforms have supported the industry, even though the decision was not easy.

During the Monsoon Session of the Parliament, a number of Bills were passed. Talking about the same , the Prime Minister said, “The ‘Factoring Regulation (Amendment) Bill’ will help small businesses get credit facilities. The ‘Deposit Insurance & Credit Guarantee Corporation Amendment Bill’ will protect the rights of small depositors.”

The PM was addressing the Confederation of Indian Industry Annual Meeting 2021, the first after the end of this season’s Parliament Session.
