The nation is celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence. Series of events are being organized to mark the occasion across the nation. The Mahaotsav will be celebrated as a Jan-Utsav in the spirit of Jan-Bhagidari.
Today is the anniversary of famous Kakori train dacoity case. Many functions will be held in Uttar Pradesh on this occasion. The main function is being organised in Lucknow in which Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will take part. AIR correspondent reports that it was the same day in 1925 when one of the most remarkable event of Indian freedom movement took place near kakori railway station in Lucknow. On August 9, the revolutionaries of Hindustan Republican association stopped the Number 8 down train near Kakori travelling from Saharanpur to Lucknow and looted the money from the guard cabin belonging to the British Government Treasury.
Today while remembering the martyrs of the case their family members will be felicitated in an event at Kakori Shaheed Smarak Lucknow. Picture exhibition, Documentary and Archive show along with art competitions will also be organised. A series of functions will be held in Uttar Pradesh this week under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav from today to 16th August.
