Watch: PM Modi to release next instalment of financial benefit under PM-KISAN

PM Narendra Modi released the next installment of financial benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme today (9 August 2021) at 12:30 pm via video conferencing. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar was also present on the occasion.

Prime Minister interacted with farmer beneficiaries during the event and also addressed the nation. Earlier, on May 14, PM Modi had released the 8th instalment of the Central government’s scheme via video conferencing wherein farmers from West Bengal were also benefitted from the scheme for the first time.

What is Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme?

The central Government started the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Yojana on December 1, 2018 for the farmers. Under this scheme, the government deposits an instalments of Rs 2,000 in the bank account of farmers every four months. So, Rs 6,000 get directly transferred to the bank account of farmers annually. More than 11.74 crore farmers have benefited from the scheme so far.

The government has given seven installments to the farmers ever since the inception of the scheme in December 2018. The Central government’s Rs 75,000-crore scheme aims to cover 125 million farmers, irrespective of the size of their landholding in the country.

Under the scheme, all the landholding farmers’ families, subject to certain exclusion criteria, get the benefit. This Scheme does not restrict any eligible beneficiary from getting the benefit of other Schemes prevailing in the Government.

Farmers can easily register themselves both online or offline to avail the benefits under the scheme. Farmers can also register themselves through Common Service Centres or online through the official website, i.e.
