1.44 lakh newspapers registered with RNI in country: MIB Anurag Thakur

Country has over one lakh 44 thousand newspapers registered with the Registrar of Newspapers for India (RNI).

Replying to a question in Rajya Sabha, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur informed that newspapers are registered with RNI under the provisions of Press and Registration of Books (PRB) Act of 1867.

Similarly, 916 Private Satellite TV Channels of 357 companies, are permitted by the I&B Ministry under the policy guidelines of 2011, to uplink and downlink.
