Indian XI is on the verge of winning the opening test against England as they resume their second innings at the overnight score of 52 for 1 today at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The visitors just need 157 runs to win the first Test of the five-match series on the final day today.
Earlier, India bundled out England for 303. For the visitors, Jasprit Bumrah picked five wickets. It was Bumrah’s second five-wicket haul at Trent Bridge. Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur also got two wickets each. England set India a target of 209 runs to win the first Test. India posted 278 runs in the first innings in response to England’s 183, taking a lead of 95 runs.
