Decline in the number of active covid cases in Maharashtra is uniform and Bhandara has become the district with zero active cases while few more districts are almost on the verge of becoming the districts with zero active cases.
But at the same time more than 66 percent active cases in the state are from Pune, Ahmednagar, Solapur, Satara, Sangli districts and these districts are posing a major threat to the relaxation from Covid restrictions in the state. Similarly patients infected with new Corona variant are also increasing worries of the health department and the state administration.
“With zero active cases Bhandara district has managed to control the global pandemic and Nandurbar with only 8 active cases and Dhule with 2 active cases will also become the districts with zero active cases in Maharashtra very soon. Hingoli, Washim, Amravati, Gondia, Gadchiroli districts have the lowest cases which are in double digits. Similarly Nagpur has also managed to control the pandemic and now has only 247 active cases. The fatality rate has also declined in these districts.
This improvement has increased the expectation of the people, especially shopkeepers, hotel owners and other stakeholders for further relaxation of the Covid restrictions in the state. But at the same time Pune, Ahmednagar, Solapur, Satara, Sangli and Thane, the neighbouring district of Mumbai have not been able to control the pandemic as they have the most number of active cases as compared to other districts in the state.
This has become the cause of concern for the health department and state administration of Maharashtra. 30 cases of new Delta variant in Nashik District has added to the worries of them posing a major threat to the relaxation process which includes opening of schools, increasing the timing of hotels and restaurants and allowing fully vaccinated common people to travel by local train in Mumbai.
