Sensex, Nifty witness robust gains during business week ended on Friday

The Sensex and the Nifty, both witnessed robust gains during the business week ended on Friday.

Both stocks climbed more than three percent amid positive global cues.

The key domestic stocks gained for four days since Monday to attain multiple all-time highs during the week.

However, investors booked profits on Friday.

The Sensex closed above the 54,000 mark while the Nifty settled above the 16,200 level.

During the week, the Sensex climbed 1,691 points or 3.22 percent to settle at 54,278.

The Nifty 50 index surged 475 points or 3.01 percent to settle at 16,238.

In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap index rose 0.51 percent and the Small-Cap index gained 0.07 percent, under performing the Sensex.
