Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted with the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana in Uttar Pradesh via video conferencing. Uttar Pradesh is celebrating August 5, 2021, as Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana Day. About 15 crore people across the State have benefitted from the scheme in form of free of cost ration. Further, nearly 80,000 fair-price shops in the State have been distributing food grains to the beneficiaries of the scheme.
PMGKAY to continue till Diwali
During the interaction, PM Modi informed that the benefits of the scheme will be extended till Diwali. Continuing further, he said that the government will continue to work in the direction of providing the benefits of all the schemes and programmes for all, regardless of their class. In this direction, the Government has also introduced a reservation of 10% for economically weaker sections.
Interaction with beneficiaries
During his interaction, PM Modi enquired the beneficiaries if they were receiving the benefits under the scheme. He also asked them about vaccination, their children’s education, and more. While interacting with a beneficiary named Badami, she shared that she is timely receiving ration and has received all the benefits of housing, electricity, and gas under various schemes of the government.
Benefits under various schemes
The PM also stated that various schemes of the Government are helping the citizens. He said, “The double-engined government has ensured that the schemes made for the poor, backward & tribal are implemented on the ground expeditiously. PM Svanidhi Yojana is also a great example of this.”
He also mentioned that farmers can now easily avail themselves credit through the PM Kisan scheme.
August 5 will be forever etched in history
The Prime Minister said that the month of August has brought achievements, and it seems like victory is on track for the nation. “The date 5th August will be forever etched in history, two years back Jammu & Kashmir immersed in the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat; one year back we began the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya,” he said.
PM Modi also congratulated the Indian Men’s Hockey team on winning the Tokyo 2020 bronze medal today, saying that the country has regained its supremacy in the world of hockey by winning a medal at Tokyo 2020.
Praise for the youth
The Prime Minister also praised the youth of the country. He said that the country is making efforts to make things possible for them, and in return, they are bringing medals and fame to the country. “India has begun to progress, India’s youth has begun to progress,” PM Modi was quoted as saying.
Fight against the pandemic
Referring to the past, PM Modi praised that country and the citizens for efficiently and in their full capacity fighting the pandemic.
He also praised the Government of Uttar Pradesh for playing a major role in the progress of the State and said that the State would play a key role in India’s development.
