The Narendra Modi Government has given special focus to welfare of Farmers and Agriculture has been in the top priority of the government.
Unveiling various developmental projects in Kutch, Gujarat on 15th December last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the welfare of farmers has remained the utmost priority of the government.
Centre has taken many path breaking initiatives which has immensely benefitted the farmers. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Samman Rashi of over 1.35 lakh crore rupees has been transferred to the bank accounts of farmer families so far. Under the scheme, a financial benefit of six thousand rupees per year is provided to the eligible beneficiary farmer families, payable in three equal four-monthly installments. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is a milestone crop insurance scheme covering full crop cycle against the losses occurring due to non-preventable natural risk. It has benefitted farmers who face crop losses due to various reasons.
Government has been promoting organic farming in the country through dedicated scheme Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana which stress on end to end support to organic farmers from production to certification and marketing. Post harvest management support including processing, packing, marketing is made integral part of the schemes to encourage organic farmers. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana extends the coverage of irrigation ‘Har Khet Ko Pani’ and improving water use efficiency per drop- more crop in a focused manner. Apart from this, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyaan PM KUSUM, E-NAM, Kisan Credit Card, Soil Health Card and other scheme are benefiting the farmers and strengthening them.
