Number of new Covid-19 infections & active caseload witness marginal dip in Tamil Nadu

In Tamil Nadu, the number of new Covid-19 infections and the active caseload has witnessed a marginal dip yesterday, as compared to the previous day. The state recorded 2068 new infections in the last 24-hours, while the number of patients under either treatment or home isolation has declined below twenty thousand and five hundred.

AIR correspondent reports that in Tamil Nadu, various district administrations are taking micro-level Covid containment activities, depending on the locally prevailing trend in the pandemic.

The Coimbatore district administration has imposed fresh restrictions for the commercial establishments from today. Shops selling groceries, vegetables and fruits have been asked to wind up their operations by 5 pm, which were earlier allowed to function till 9 pm. All parks, malls and big commercial complexes have been asked to down their shutters until further orders. However, in several other districts, the number of new cases is well within a hundred, while just five districts are witnessing a daily count above hundred.
