2.80 lakh electric vehicles sold in the country in last 2 years

A total of two lakh 80 thousand electric vehicles were sold in the country under Phase two of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) in the last two years.

This information was given in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday by Minister of State for Heavy Industries Krishan Pal Gujar. Starting from 2019, the programme is being implemented for five years with a budgetary support of ten thousand crore rupees.

The Minister said FAME India focusses supporting electrification of public and shared transportation with over seven thousand e-Buses, Five lakh e-3wheelers, 55 thousand e-4 wheeler passenger cars and ten lakh e-2 wheelers.
