Musical programme organised by High Commission of India in Dhaka

The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), High Commission of India in Dhaka organised an online musical programme on Friday. Renowned singers and musicians from Bangladesh and India performed classical Indian music during the ‘Malhar Shondhya’ programme which drew audiences from across the globe.

The legendary Rabindra Sangeet artist and ICCR alumni Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya performed ‘Rabindra Malhar’ which is a combination of the Mishra Malhar Raga with Mian Ki Malhar.

Renowned classical vocalist Pandit Swarnamoy Chakraborty from Bangladesh gave a soulful rendition of Raga Megh Malhar. Prominent flutist from India Kiran Kumar Sharma performed a beautiful composition of Raga Mian Ki Malhar on flute. Prominent sarod player Rajrupa Chowdhury played a beautiful short composition on Mirabai Ki Malhar after presenting Raga Mian Ki Malhar on Sarod.

The Malhar festival is organised to welcome the rains as the Raga is associated with rain.
