In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists were gunned down in a gunfight that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Dachigam forest area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday. The two hard-core terrorists were involved in Lethpora Terror Attack which took place on 14th February 2019 wherein 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were martyred when a convoy of CRPF was attacked by a suicide bomber of Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Lethpora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Range Vijay Kumar said that one of terrorists killed in the operation was Mohd. Ismal Alvi alias Lamboo, a top-most Pakistani terrorist who was affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror outfit and was from the family of Masood Azhar. The IGP said that he was involved in conspiracy and planning of Lethpora attack and figured in chargesheet produced by National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The Second terrorist killed was identified as Sameer Dar who was an A+ category terrorist of Pulwama. He was also involved in Lethpora Attack and figured in NIA’s chargesheet.
IGP Vijay Kumar further said that out of 19 accused terrorists and Over Ground Workers involved with the terror attack, eight terrorists have been killed so far in different encounters.
Meanwhile, in a joint press conference, Corps Commander 15 corps, IGP Kashmir and GoC Victor Force have congratulated the joint teams of Police and Army for the big success that led to the elimination of the two most wanted terrorists.
