Andaman and Nicobar Islands: Covid-19 Vaccination drive running smoothly

In Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Covid-19 Vaccination drive is running smoothly. A total of 2,84,771 doses administered so far. 1,93,215 lacs beneficiaries vaccinated with the Ist dose and 91,556 have received their IInd dose. A total of 84,801 beneficiaries of age group 18-44 yrs. vaccinated in the islands till date. 48.30% of population vaccinated.

Meanwhile, a covid vaccination drive also begins at a private clinic in Port Blair recently after having approval from Directorate of Health Services,DHS. One more private clinic is suppose to start vaccination soon. The Nodel Officer of Covid-19 Dr. Avijit Roy while speaking to AIR News mentioned that Swaraj Dweep, the world famous tourist destination, have been fully vaccinated with Ist dose of Covid-19 vaccine by administering more than 5700 doses.

Now, the focus is to vaccinate southern group of islands viz. Nicobar. After that North and Middle district will be targeted. Special vaccination camps apart from vaccination centres are also being arranged to pace up vaccination drive in the district. The DHS urged all 45+yrs beneficiaries to walk in to the nearest vaccination centre and have their second dose of vaccine.
