President Ram Nath Kovind today laid a wreath at the Dagger War Memorial in Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir to pay tributes to all soldiers who sacrificed their lives in defending the nation on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
In his message in the visitors’ book at the memorial, Mr Kovind said, the nation salutes the soldiers and officers of the 19th infantry division, who have been safeguarding the borders in the most hostile terrains under adverse weather conditions as the frontline troops. He wrote that they have scripted exceptional stories of indomitable courage, bravery and sacrifice. The President said, the Dagger war memorial evokes profound respect for the brave fighters who laid down their lives for the safety and security of the country. He said, the memorial will educate people of the country about the highest values of the Indian Army and inspire them.
The President also interacted with the officers and jawans of Chinar Corps and High Altitude Warfare School, Gulmarg. The High Altitude Warfare School, Gulmarg is one of the most premier institutions in the field of warfare. Mr Kovind wrote a message appreciating and encouraging the soldiers who defend the borders.
Tomorrow, President Ram Nath Kovind is scheduled to grace and address the 19th Annual Convocation of the University of Kashmir in Srinagar
