Govt promoting learning materials in local languages: Dharmendra Pradhan

Centre today said that it is committed to promote education, research and innovation work in local languages.

Replying a question in the Lok Sabha, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the government is promoting learning materials in local languages. He said several provisions have also been made in the New Education Policy (NEP) for this purpose.

The Minister said working on this line this year NEET exam for admission in medical colleges would be held in 13 vernaculars including Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati and Punjabi.

Mr. Pradhan said the AICTE has formulated curriculum for engineering colleges and already 14 colleges have adopted this promoting higher education in local languages.
