In Uttar Pradesh, health infrastructure has got a major boost in the last four years. Two All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS have come up in Gorakhpur and Raebareli districts and the state will soon get nine new medical colleges.
The state government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is working towards establishing medical colleges in each of the 75 districts. The construction of nine new medical colleges is almost complete.
The Chief Minister visited one such newly constructed medical college in Deoria district today and took stock of its preparedness. He said that the state had only 12 medical colleges by the year 2016, but the state government has granted approval to open 32 medical colleges in the last four years.
The Chief Minister said that admission of students have begun in 17 of them and 9 new are ready to be inaugurated. He also said that the action plan for 14 medical colleges is ready and in the next six months the rest of 16 districts will also be granted permission to establish medical colleges.
