After almost a year’s delay, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics are finally underway, with events taking place in different disciplines. Here are the latest updates from Day 16:

Day 15

Tokyo Olympics 2020: Golfer Aditi Ashok is ranked 2nd at the end of Round 3. She has a two-stroke cushion over the 3rd place player.

In a dramatic turnaround, India’s Bajrang Punia wins the quarterfinal match in a ‘victory by fall’ against Iran’s M. Ghiasi Cheka in the 65 kg Freestyle 1/4 final at Tokyo  2020. He has now entered the semi-finals

India goes down against Great Britain in the India v/s Great-Britain Bronze medal match.

Wrestling: Women’s 50kg Freestyle 1/8 Final Seema Bisla loses to Tunisia’s Sarra Hamdi 3-1

Day 14

Tokyo Olympics: Wrestler Ravi Dahiya gets a Silver medal, loses to ROC’s Zavur Uguev in men’s Freestyle 57 kg final.

India wins a Bronze Medal. In a roller-coaster match, the Indian Men’s Hockey team wins the bronze medal match against Germany by 5-4. With this, India won a medal at Olympics in Hockey after 41 years.

Wrestling: Vinesh Phogat advanced to Women’s Freestyle 53kg 1/4 Final, by defeating Mattsson Sofia Magdalena of Sweden by 7-1.

In a well-fought match, Indian wrestler Vinesh goes down against Belarus’s Vanesa Kaladzinskaya in the Quarterfinal match.

Day 13

Indian Women’s Hockey team lose against Argentina in the semifinal match, to take on Great Britain in bronze medal clash

In her debut Olympic match, Indian wrestler Anshu Malik lost to Belarus’s Iryna Kurachkina by 2-8, in Women’s Freestyle (57 kg).

Wrestler Deepak Punia loses to David Taylor of the USA in men’s freestyle 86kg semi-final.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya wins against Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev, in Wrestling, Men’s 57kg Freestyle Semi-finals

Golfer Aditi Ashok is tied at 2nd rank, 4 under par (-4) with 67 points after the end of Golf women’s Round 1.

India’s Lovlina Borgohai wins the bronze medal as she goes down against Turkey’s Busenaz Surmeneli in the semifinal of the 69 Kg category by 0-5.

Indian wrestler Deepak Punia defeated Nigeria’s Ekerekeme Agiomor in Men’s Freestyle (86 kg) Match, by 12-1; advances to next round.

He further defeated China’s Lin Zushen by 6-3 to reach the semifinal of Men’s freestyle 86 Kg.

In her debut Olympic match, Indian wrestler Anshu Malik lost to Belarus’s Iryna Kurachkina by 2-8, in Women’s Freestyle (57 kg).

Ravi Dahiya kicks off his 57 kg campaign with a confident 13-2 win over Colombia’s Óscar Tigreros; advances to quarter-finals.

Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya defeat Bulgaria’s Georgi Vangelov in Men’s Freestyle (57kg) Quarter Final match by 14-4; advances to Semi-finals.

Tokyo Olympics: India’s Neeraj Chopra qualifies for the men’s javelin throw final.

He made an 86.65 m throw in his first attempt to not only top the qualification standings after the completion of the first round, but also to go past the automatic qualification mark (83.50).

Day 12

Young Indian wrestler Sonam Malik’s Olympic debut ended with a first-round defeat against Mongolia’s Bolortuy Khurelkhuu in the 62kg category.

Hockey Men’s Semi-Final: Indian men’s hockey team loses to Belgium 5-2.

Indian Javelin thrower Annu Rani finishes her Qualification round with the final and highest throw of 54.04 m finishing at 14th spot.

Day 11

Indian shooters Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Sanjeev Rajput finish the qualification round at 20th and 32nd place with 1167 and 1157 points respectively; fail to qualify for men’s 50m rifle three positions final.

he Indian wrestling contingent will begin their Tokyo Olympics campaign on 3rd August at Makuhari Messe Hall in Tokyo.

India qualifies for semifinals. India defeats Australia 1-0

Dutee Chand finished her 200m race with the season best time of 23.85 to finish 7th in her heats.

Day 9

In a nail-biting game, the Indian Women’s Hockey team registered a win over South Africa by 4-3.

Women’s Discus Throw Qualification Results A superb 64 m throw by Kamalpreet Kaur to qualify for the Finals in Group B. Seema Punia bows out, finishing 6th in Group A.

Atanu Das went down against Japan’s Takaharu Furukawa by 4-6 in the 16th round. This was his last presentation at Tokyo 2020.

Anirban Lahiri finished Round 2 with a rank of T24 (3 under par (-3) with a total score of 139).

Amit Panghal loses his first bout to Colombia’s Martinez Rivas by a 1-4 split decision.

Day 7

At the end of Round 1, Indian Golfer Anirban Lahiri ends day 1 with a four under (-4).

Nethra Kumanan finished Laser Radial Race 08 at 20th spot Race 09 and 10 are scheduled for 30 July.

Indian sailors Varun Thakkar and KC Ganapathy finish 49er Men Race 06 at the 7th spot.

On the seventh day of the Tokyo Olympic Games, India has made it to the quarterfinals of four different sports. The men’s hockey team, Atanu Das, shuttler PV Sindhu, and boxer Satish Kumar are included in this list.

In a one arrow shootoff, Indian archer Atanu Das wins against OH Jinhyek in the 1/16 elimination round and qualifies for the next round.

Day 6

Indian shuttler Sai Praneeth loses to Mark Caljouw of Netherlands 14-21, 14-21 in men’s singles Group D match.

Tokyo Olympics 2020: Archer Deepika Kumari beats USA’s Jennifer Mucino-Fernandez in women’s individual 1/16 Eliminations.

Boxing: Women’s Middle (69-75kg) Round of 16 Pooja Rani of India defeated Ichrak Chaib of Algeria.

Archer Deepika Kumari beats Bhutan’s Bhu Karma by 6-0 in women’s individual 1/32 Eliminations.

Indian archer Pravin Jadhav beats Galsan Bazarzhapov by 6-0 in men’s individual 1/32 Eliminations and qualifies for the next round.

Indian rowers Arvind Lal and Arjun Singh finish sixth in semis A/B in lightweight men’s double sculls event.

Indian archer Tarundeep Rai qualifies for the 16th round in Men’s Singles event. He registered win against Ukraine’s Oleksii Hunbin by 6-4.

India’s star shuttler PV Sindhu wins the match against Hong Kong’s Cheung Ngan Yi 21-9, 21-16; advances to the Round of 16.

 

Day 5

Lovlina has registered her 1st win at the Olympic stage. She wins the round of 16-match against Nadine Apetz in Women’s Welter (64-69Kg).

 

 

Air Rifle Mixed Team qualification round 1

Indian Duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty defeated Ben Lane & Sean Vendy in Men’s Doubles Group Play Stage by 21-17, 21-19.

In a well-fought match, Sharath Kamal goes down against defending gold medalist Ma Long in round 3 by 1-4 (7-11, 11-8, 11-13, 4-11, 4-11)

 

Indian Men’s hockey team wins their 3rd pool match against Spain by 3-0.

Tokyo Olympics: 10m Air Pistol mixed team of Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary finished the qualification round 2 at 7th place with a score of 380.

Sajan Prakash finished at 4th position with a timing of 1:57.22 in Men’s 200m Butterfly – Heat 2.

Ashish Kumar goes down against Erbieke Tuoheta by 0-5 in the 75 kg category.

Manika Batra goes down against Sofia Polcanova in Women’s Singles Round 3 in straight sets 8-11, 2-11, 5-11, 7-11.

Sumit Nagal goes down to World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev 2-6, 1-6.

 

Shooting (Men’s Skeet) – Angad Bajwa finishes 18th with a score of 120 & Mairaj Ahmad Khan finishes 25th with a score of 117.

Tokyo Olympics: Indian sailor Vishnu Saravanan finished Race 2 of Men’s Laser Event at 20th spot.

Indian men’s recurve archery team goes down 0-6 in quarterfinals to South Korea.

Sutirtha Mukherjee loses to Portugal’s Fu Yu 4-0 in Round 2 of Table Tennis.

India’s Bhavani Devi loses her Table of 32 match 7-15 against World No. 3 Brunet of France.

Mairaj Khan (25th) and Angad Bajwa (11th) are yet to take their shots. They each have 50 shots left to try and make into the top 6, who will advance to the final.

Tokyo Olympics 2020:  Achanta Sharath Kamal is through to Round 3 of Men’s Singles TableTennis. He beats Portuguese player Tiago 4-2.

In Badminton Men’s Doubles Group A match, Chirag Shetty & Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy defeated World No. 3 pair Lee Yang & Wang Chi. the duo came back strongly and are steaming with confidence.

In a close game, Sutirtha Mukherjee defeated Sweden’s Linda Bergstroem by 4-3 in Women’s Singles Round 1. the comeback in the match was great.

Vikas Krishan loses out to Japan’s Okazawa in his opening bout in the Men’s Welterweight boxing category.

Manika Batra wins in straight sets against Great Britain’s Tin-Tin Ho in her first-round of Singles match.

Sumit Nagal becomes the first-ever Indian tennis player since Leander Paes register a singles match win at the Olympics. Nagal will face World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev in his next match.

Saurabh Chaudhary finished 7th in the men’s 10m Air Pistol Final on his Olympic debut. In the qualification round, Saurabh finished on the top spot.

Indian Mixed Archery team went down against the Republic of Korea by 6-2 in the quarter-finals.

In Men’s Singles Group Stage B Sai Praneeth goes down against Israel’s Zilberman Misha by 17-21, 15-21.

India finishes 5th in Rowing (Heat 2) with the timing of 6:40.33.

Indian Men’s Hockey team started the campaign with a win. India defeated New Zealand in their opening group match by 3-2. On 25 July, India will take on Australia.
