As many as 17 bodies have been recovered from landslide debris at Khed Posre village in Khed Taluqua in Ratnagiri district today. A total of 7 houses were buried under the debris in this village and search operation is still going on.
7 injured have been admitted to hospitals. According to the information received from the district information office, a massive landslide occurred on 23 July in this village and houses were buried under.
The rescuers have found 17 bodies. The dead include two children. Meanwhile, an incident of landslide has occurred at Hirkani Wadi at the foot of Raigad fort following torrential rains. No casualties have been reported so far.
In Satara district also, landslides have occurred and NDRF teams are struggling to rescue 15 people trapped under the debris, out of which, 11 dead bodies have been recovered at Ambeghar. While at Mirgaon and Dhokavale villages, search operation is being carried out.
Some 10 people at Mirgaon and 5 at Dhokavale village are feared to be trapped under the landslide debris. Meanwhile, the minister of state home, Shambhuraje Desai today visited Ambeghar and consoled the locals. The guardian minister Balasaheb Patil also visited flood affected Pali village in the district and surveyed the situation. Currently rains are receding in the district.
Meanwhile, as per the recent information, 60 dead bodies have been recovered from landslide debris in Mahad and Poladpur taluquas in Raigad district. Sub district hospital Medical Officer Pradip Ingole informed this. He said that, out of these 60 bodies, 49 are from Taliye in Mahad and 11 are from Poladpur.
