CCI procured 91.89 Lakh bales of cotton during current cotton season so far

The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has procured 91.89 Lakh bales of cotton so far during the current cotton season (2020-21). This is equivalent to procurement of 482 lakh quintals.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha the minister of state in the textiles ministry Darshana Jardosh informed that the CCI has disbursed an amount of Rs. 26,700 crores to around 19 lakh cotton farmers in the current cotton season.

The minister said to avoid any eventuality of distress sale by farmers, the CCI has opened more than 450 procurement centres in all cotton growing states.
