921 healthcare workers paid Rs 50 lakh each insurance claim under PMGKP scheme

Centre has said during Covid-19 pandemic a total of 921 doctors and healthcare workers have been paid insurance claims of Rs 50 Lakh each under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP).

In a written reply, in Lok Sabha Minister of state for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar informed that, with effect from 24th April 2021 the benefits under the PMGKP have been extended for a further period of 180 days.

The PMGKP scheme provides a comprehensive personal accidental cover to healthcare providers, including community health workers and private health workers drafted by the Government for Covid 19 patients and who may be at risk of being impacted by it.
