Dow sinks more than 2% percent as investors sell off economically sensitive shares

The Dow index sank more than two percent yesterday as investors sold off economically sensitive shares. Investors remained concern over spike in COVID-19 cases and its effect on economic recovery.

New infections surged in parts of Asia and England, while U.S. COVID-19 cases soared 70 percent last week, fueled by the Delta variant.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 2.1 percent and the S&P 500 declined 1.6 percent and the Nasdaq Composite index fell 1.1 percent.
