Amid continued infighting in the Punjab Congress, state around nine out of 11 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs met at the residence of Rajya Sabha member Partap Singh Bajwa in Delhi on Sunday. Sources said, the MPs are not in favour of appointing Navjot Singh Sidhu as Punjab Congress President. They are learnt to have discussed the current political situation in the state.
The MPs however said, the issues to be raised in the monsoon session were discussed in the meeting.
The meeting comes a day after Partap Singh Bajwa, Punjab Speaker Rana KP Singh and cabinet minister Rana Gurmeet Sodhi met Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh at his residence yesterday evening.
Captain Amarinder Singh is annoyed with party over the probable elevation of Navjot Singh Sidhu as Punjab PCC chief.
Bajwa said, there is no factionalism in Punjab and the leadership has already said, the elections will be contested under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh.
However AIR correspondent reports , Mr Sidhu accompanied by cabinet minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa Visited the residence of MLA madan Lal in Patiala district and net seven MLAs there and continued to meet MLAs supposed to be in his camp. There are series of meetings in Chandigarh and elsewhere in Punjab are going before the announcement of new PPC chief.
