In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists were gunned down by security forces at Alamdar Colony of Danmar area in the outskirts of Srinagar city, in the wee hours today.
The identity of the slain terrorists is being ascertained. As per official sources, the joint team of security forces including J&K Police, Army and CRPF were fired upon by terrorists after they launched Cardon and Search Operation (CASO) in the area and in retaliation, the two unidentified terrorists were neutralised by the security forces. Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar said that with today’s operation in Srinagar, police alongwith security forces have neutralized 78 terrorists in Kashmir valley this year so far.
He said that in these encounters, most of the terrorists with 39 in number were affiliated with banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) followed by Hizbul Mujahideen, Al-Badr, Jaish-e-Mohamad (JeM) and Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind (AuGH).
