Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui killed in Afghan clashes

Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui was killed today while covering a clash between Afghan security forces and Taliban fighters. He was covering the situation in Kandahar over the last couple of days.

Responding to media queries, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said Indian Ambassador in Kabul is in touch with Afghan authorities. He said they are keeping his family informed of the developments.

Sources said, Indian Embassy in Kabul is in touch with Afghan authorities to bring back the mortal remains of Danish Siddiqui. Sources also said that the body has been handed over by the Taliban to the International Committee of the Red Cross. They said, External Affairs Ministry is actively facilitating the return of the body in coordination with Afghan authorities and the ICRC.
