Journey of Railways in last 7 years has been transformational: Railway Board Chairman

Railway Board Chairman Sunit Sharma on Thursday said the journey of Railways in the last seven years has been transformational. Briefing media this afternoon, Mr Sharma said the vision is to make Railways technology-driven, modernise systems, and enhance passenger experience. He said Redeveloped Gandhi Nagar Railway Station is the first step of Station Redevelopment initiative. He added that more stations are lined up for redevelopment.

Mr Sharma said another focus is to increase freight share by adopting Customer Centric approach. He said Kisan Rail Services were started which transported the produce of farmers to all corners of the country. Wifi was provided at 6040 stations and 156 lifts and 120 escalators installed in 2020-21.
