Health Ministry reviews status of vaccine procurement by Private COVID Vaccination Centres

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan chaired a high-level meeting with Health Secretaries and senior immunization officials of 15 States and Union Territories.

The Union Health Ministry today reviewed the status and progress of vaccine procurement by Private COVID Vaccination Centres.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan chaired a high-level meeting with Health Secretaries and senior immunization officials of 15 States and Union Territories.

These States and Union Territories are Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.

Union Health Ministry has expressed concern over the slow pace of procurement and administration of vaccines by Private COVID Vaccination Centres in some states.

It advised to review status and progress on vaccine procurement by these centres on a daily basis.

It has also been advised to ensure speedy and effective coordination between the Private COVID Vaccination Centres and the vaccine manufacturers to remove hurdles.

States were again informed of the usage of Co-WIN platform as the backend management tool for the order placements.
