In West Bengal, eight BJP MLAs have tendered their resignations from the Chairmanship of Assembly Committees and Standing Committees of State Legislative Assembly today. After attending the meeting of the BJP Legislative Party in the Assembly house this afternoon, the MLAs went to meet the Governor at Raj Bhawan.
Leader of the Opposition BJP’s Shubhendu Adhikari later told reporters that Mr Mukul Roy had been made the Chairman of Public Accounts Committee, even though, he rejoined his erstwhile party Trinamool Congress. Despite returning to the TMC, Mr Roy did not resign as an MLA. Mr Adhikari said that they strongly oppose the politics done by the TMC over the chairmanship of the PAC and sought the Governor’s intervention in the matter.
