The Sensex and the Nifty today closed almost flat amid mixed global cues. In a volatile session, both indices ended divergently. The Rupee appreciated six paise against the US currency.
The BSE Sensex fell 14 points, or 0.03 per cent to finish at 52,373 while the NSE Nifty added three points, or 0.02 per cent, to trade at 15,693.
In the forex market, the Rupee appreciated six paise to close at Rs 74.58 against the US Dollar.
Gold prices fell around Rs 220 at Multi-Commodity Exchange for August contracts in sync with fall in the international market. Gold was trading at Rs 47,700 per 10 grams. Silver prices also declined around Rs 560 to trade at Rs 68,730 per kilogram for September Contracts when reports last came in.
Oil prices fell more than one per cent. In intra-day trade, Brent crude prices were trading around USD 74.60 per barrel.
