A car rally was flagged off on Sunday from Srinagar to Gurez to promote tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. It was jointly flagged off by Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar Aijaz Asad and Director, Tourism, Kashmir Dr. Ghulam Nabi Itoo.
The three-day car rally organised by a local adventure group, which will pass through Razdan Pass and reach Davar tonight and tomorrow. The rally would be back to Srinagar by Tuesday. During the rally, the participants of the rally would visit Chakvali and Habba Khatoon springs. They will have bonfire sessions and cultural interactions with the local youth.
Director Tourism expressed hope that the rally would herald a new phase of tourist footfall to Gurez valley.
The rally is part of the efforts by the Department to explore the untapped tourism potential of Gurez valley. The Department has already planned a Gurez festival soon to attract more tourists to the virgin valley and bring it adequately on the tourist map of Jammu and Kashmir.
