Odisha govt decides to vaccinate pregnant women from Mid July

Odisha government has decided to vaccinate pregnant women against covid-19 from Mid July. In a letter to the district collectors and municipal commissioners, State Health department has asked them to complete the training process of all the officials to be involved in the covid-19 vaccination of expectant mothers by July 15. AIR Bhubaneswar correspondent reports that state government has also prepared for the inoculation of the mentally ill.

Accordingly, district collectors and municipal commissioners have been told to set up near to home covid vaccination centres while prioritising the vaccination of the inmates of the mental health establishments across the state. The state government has asked the concerned district-level authorities to follow the SoPs issued by the centre as well as the state for vaccination of pregnant women and the mentally ill. Odisha continues to report covid-19 new cases in the vicinity of 3000 daily for the last so many days, despite the weekend shutdowns and partial lockdown in one thirds of the total districts of the state.
