Domestic stocks witnessed their second weekly loss in the business week ended on Friday. In a highly Volatile trade during the week the Sensex and the Nifty logged marginal losses amid weak global cues, concern about rise in bond markets and worries about global economic recovery. Worries that the spread of the Delta variant of coronavirus may hamper global economic recovery weighed on investor sentiment.
The Sensex declined below the 52,500 mark while the Nifty ended below 15,700 level.
During the week, the Sensex fell 98 points or 0.19 percent to settle at 52,386. The Nifty 50 index also lost 32 points or 0.21 percent to settle at 15,690.
In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap and the Small-Cap indices performed better than the Sensex posting robust gains. The Mid-Cap index surged 1.37 percent while the Small-Cap index jumped 1.2 percent.
