West Bengal administers over 2.36 crore doses of Covid Vaccines so far  

West Bengal has administered over 2 crore 36 lakh doses of Covid Vaccines so far. Over 1 crore 75 lakh people got the first dose while 60 lakh 63 thousand got the second dose. AIR Correspondent reports that the state has now given priority to complete the vaccine doses of people who have got the first jab and hinted at allowing more relaxation to the Covid induced restrictions.

Though the overall infection rate has been declining, some districts like Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram and Darjeeling have recorded marginal growth in fresh Covid cases. The state administration asked the districts to inquire into the reasons behind it and to keep vigil regarding maintenance of strict Covid protocol.

The infection rate has come under control in Kolkata and North 24 Parganas which were at the top of the list with highest infection rate and Covid deaths. In both the districts, new Covid cases came under hundred in the past few days. The administration hinted at allowing more relaxation if the overall situation remains satisfactory.
