Delimitation Commission begins its two-day visit to Jammu Division from today

After the first leg of visit to Kashmir valley, the Delimitation Commission begins its two-day visit to Jammu Division from today. Our correspondent reports that the Commission members will meet political leaders of various political parties and District Electoral Officers during its visit of Jammu Division. The Commission have arrived at Kishtwar and will meet with District Election Officers (DEOs) of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts between 11.30 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. at PWD Guest House, Kishtwar.

However, the Delimitation Commission will meet with DEOs of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri and Poonch districts tomorrow morning in Jammu before leaving for New Delhi. The Delimitation Commission was constituted in March last year and its term was extended by another year in March 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic. Tasked with drawing out constituencies, the commission will also carve constituencies for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for the first time in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
