Maharashtra Government has asked all District Collectors to hold a meeting with industrialists to guide them as to how they can begin operating their units, while strictly following COVID protocols. In a meeting with district collectors and other senior officials, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said, industries must be advised to arrange for lodging facilities for their workers either within the unit or someplace nearby. Stating that the second wave of infection is yet to subside, the Chief Minister said, the government has taken a calculated risk in allowing industries to function as economic progress cannot be kept on the backburner.
Considering the high positivity rate of Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts; Mr. Thackeray asked the concerned authorities to increase testing and vaccination while doing away with home quarantine.
Also present in the meeting, state Health Minister Rajesh Tope said, vaccination can pick up further if private hospitals can manage to order a large number of doses. He directed officials to ensure that rules regarding containment zones are strictly followed while vaccine wastage and overcharging by private hospitals is avoided at all cost. He added that district administration must input data in real time so that all the figures are correctly recorded and reported at state level.
