In West Bengal, the number of new COVID cases dropped below one thousand for the first time since May this year. According to the data released by the State Health Department, a total of 885 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours with 18 fresh fatalities, taking the death toll to 17 thousand eight hundred and 17.
Active COVID cases declined by 830 to 17 thousand 950 while the positivity rate stands at 2.19 per cent. The recovery rate improves further to 97.63 per cent. Meanwhile, nearly three lakh people were vaccinated yesterday as the total number of inoculated persons in the state went up to around two crore 30 lakhs.
