Union Health Ministry in a statement said that the country reported 34 thousand 703 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours which the lowest in 111 days.
The country’s active caseload has further declined to four lakh 64 thousand and 357, the lowest in 101 days. The active cases constitute 1.52 per cent of the total reported cases so far.
A total of 51 thousand 864 patients also recovered from the infection during the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to more than two crore 97 lakh 52 thousand. The Ministry further added that daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 54th consecutive day. The country registered further improvement in the recovery rate which now stands at 97.17 per cent. In the last 24 hours, 553 deaths were reported in the country.
Weekly Positivity Rate in the country remains below five per cent and is currently at 2.40 per cent. Daily positivity rate stands at 2.11 per cent, which is less than three per cent for 15th consecutive day. The Ministry said, testing capacity has been substantially ramped up and 42 crore 14 lakh tests for COVID-19 have been conducted in total. Yesterday, more than 16 lakh 47 thousand tests were conducted.
