AIROn the final day of visit in Ladakh, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth Affairs and Sports led by Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe reviewed it’s subject matters with a focus on education in Ladakh.
The Education Secretary of UT Ajeet Sahu gave presentation on infrastructure, teacher training, teacher-student ratio and various schemes run in Ladakh. Mr Sahu also presented various initiatives taken by UT Administration during the COVID-19 pandemic for the last two years.
Similarly, Secretary Padma Angmo presented initiatives taken for higher education, women empowerment, skill development with focus on entrepreneurship development. She also said, incentive schemes are offered to the students who perform better in Civil Services Examinations and professional courses.
Sports Secretary Ravinder Kumar said, to encourage sports world-class infrastructure is being developed and sports activities to encourage sports persons from block level.
Summing up the queries from committee members on presentations, Chairman Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe suggested to come up with mobile network requirements to reach all corners. He also assured the administration to take up exclusive satellite channel for Ladakh and increase in frequency for the proposed community radio for education. Dr Sahasrabuddhe appreciated Yountab scheme for far-flung students and community classes during the pandemic.
