In Uttarakhand, the meeting of the BJP legislative party will be held at 3 PM today in Dehradun to elect a new leader of the legislative party in the presence of Central observers.
The new leader will be later sworn in as the next chief minister of the state where assembly elections are due early next year.
Meanwhile, Union Minister and central observer Narendra Singh Tomar has reached Dehradun in the forenoon. Earlier Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat submitted his resignation to Governor Baby Rani Maurya late last night.
The Governor accepted the resignation and asked Tirath Singh Rawat to remain the acting Chief Minister till the appointment of a new Chief Minister in the State.
